So my friend did my dishes… she meant well but didn’t use the strainer… garbage disposer no longer works and the drain is SUPER slow… poured a whole bottle of a drain cleaner/clog destroyer in… little to no success… any more suggestions?!?!?
Out of the blue, my main bathroom that guests primarily use starting having an earthy smell coming from the sink drain. It’s on the main floor, and there are no floors above it (in other words, not another sink above it). I examined the plumbing under the sink, and everything seems to be in working order, no leaks, trap is in good shape, etc.
nice looking 300 to 400 buck piece of junk,,how bout a simple rubbermaid stopper ?,need a this old house vid to do repair. strainer so it can be serviced expensive american made
I recently purchased a home. Several days after moving in I noticed that the master bath sink has a terrible odor coming from it whenever it is left running for a few seconds. I’ve poured bleach down the drain a few times and it seems to help for several days then its right back to smelling bad again! Please help!
So you want to learn how to unclog a sink drain? You’ve got to first remove the adjustable “p-trap”, in order to unclog a sink drain. Make sure you have “this” under the adjustable p-trap or you’ll be in for a big surprise. You might need “these” to remove the adjustable p-trap “nuts” so you can unclog your sink drain. It takes a little preparation to unclog a sink drain, so get yourself “ready” before removing the adjustaable p-trap.
I’m adding a kitchen into our basement and want to put in a kitchen sink and a dishwasher. Since sewage pumps cost a LOT of money I was wondering if I can get by with a sealed and vented sump pump system. This system would ONLY be used for the kitchen and would drain into the sewer and vent to the roof. My concern is that the pump would become clogged because of the strainer that most pumps have on them. Since food particles are rather small would it be ok to simply remove the strainer and allow these particles to be pumped?
To Mark: I didn’t ask for a link for expensive pumps… I want to know if I can use a sump pump because they’re CHEAPER…
To Mark (Again): NO I’m not oblivious to pump technology… I KNOW I should be using a more expensive sewage pump, but it’s not in the budget right now, and besides… it’s a basement sink that will probably only be used once a week so I don’t really see the point in spending that much money on it.
To everyone: Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it. One more thing though: does anybody have any input on which brand of pump to use? Is there any brand that it would be easier to take the intake screen off of?
Ladies do not let your husbands drain hamburger in the sink without a strainer….they will get the grease on the bottom of the pan and start a fire!!
Thank you for your answers…..I personally do NOT drain hot grease down the sink….but I guess I can just be thankful he was trying to make dinner!
