Plumbing Question — Kitchen Sink Drain Pipe?

More Info

The drain pipe has a corroded area and is leaking badly. I must replace it.

The pipe is iron. On one end it connects to iron, on the other end to plastic. The iron-to-iron end connection is also corroded.

How hard will this be to replace? I assume I need some sort of special fitting on each end of the replacement pipe to enable me to install it.

I am looking at building a apartment in my garage. Can I use the Washing Machine Drain for sewage waste from my toilet, sink and shower? I was wondering what is the regulation for toilet drain pipe diameter?

Possible drain opens up to a bigger pipe below the slab? My kitchen is 40 Ft past the washer and dryer.
The house was built 1991 and the pipe is 2". It is a slab house here in Dallas TX.

I am running a 2" washer drain into 3" ABS drain pipe. I’ve got to cut the 3" ABS pipe to put a T connector in. The pipe is hanging from the ceiling. How do I do this in a graceful way and make decent straight cuts?

Remodeling a house and found a copper supply line contacting a steel drain pipe in the wall. Copper which contacts steel will corrode. What can I insert between the two pipes?
Electrical tape? Small piece of rubber? Foam pipe insulation sleeve?
Cant re-do the plumbing. Its a 4 inch stud wall with a vertical 3- 4 inch drain pipe. The copper supply runs horizontally across it ( and touches it) . In other words, there isnt much space to play with, within a 4 inch stud wall.

                PLUMBERS PUTTY

VISIT OUR WEBSITE! DunbarPlumbing.com OR OUR PLUMBING FORUM! DunbarPlumbingForums.com NORTHERN KENTUCKY PLUMBERS The video shows firsthand how plumbers putty can break down over a short period of time and cause leaks at connecions that need to stay waterproof. Putty can also cause problems with synthetic marble or granite, plastic or composite whereby the oil base of plumbers putty can slowly leach into the sink’s surface and cause issues with staining or material breakdown. Often, plumbers will recommend a “new” type of plumbers putty that is not damaging to the above type of sinks. Too often with both products, the material hardens over a short time and does not perform the function that the product should provide, at least as long as the disposal/strainer or any other type of installation is involved. For some areas across the nation and the globe, plumbers putty is a code requirement. Proper amounts of putty when used is crucial, most times issues arise from using too much putty which can cause leaks over time. We welcome any questions or opinions on this video, we are sure that people will argue the benefits of putty as it is a hotly debated topic on plumbing forums across the internet. Dunbar Plumbing for a number of years used plumbers putty but the reasonable choice these days for reliability is silicone sealant. A product that withstands aging quite well and is resistant to water simply by it’s chemical makeup. Contact Dunbar Plumbing @ 859-359-4833 to schedule

I began snaking my kitchen sink. It picks up two apartments below on the way to the stack. The downstairs apartments are draining well and as I have now exposed the pipe I can SEE the snake inside the drain pipe all the way to the stack. The clog seems to be between my apartment and the one beneath but why can I see the snake yet water will still not drain? I also snaked the vent. I’m at a loss

I want to put an additional sink across the kitchen from the main sink. The drain pipe is up in the joists under the kitchen and I would have to cross the joists to connect to it. I don’t have enough room to tilt a 10ft solid piece of PVC but could snake and pull a flexible pipe if such a product exists. Does such a thing exist?
