Aright this time we have a drain that’s draining slow on a bath sink And were going to put a little water in here Now were letting the water drain out notice how slow the water drains out Ok what were going to do were going to take that pop up out P trap and were going to clean that drain out First of all were going to get a bucket to catch the water from the drain Now right here were going to remove the pop up lever that pushes the plug up and down This way this will release the plug so that we can pull it up and out And pull out any trash or hair like this up out of there And let me tell you 85 percent of the time when the plumber comes to the house to unclog your bath sink this is all there doing In most cases there is know need to run a cable And know were just going to do a little extra And make sure that the p trap is not full with hair Ok that not to bad but you can see the hair was starting to get down in the drain And here were taking a hanger and pushing some tissue through So that we can clean the drain out completely See the rest of it just came out the other end here Now that we clean it out pretty good Now it’s time to start putting things back together starting with the p trap here Just cleaning a little bit of the hair off the lever to the pop up And As I put the pop up lever in I’m holding the plug up top you can’t see right now Ok now see this one drain much faster now
VISIT OUR WEBSITE! DunbarPlumbing.com OR OUR PLUMBING FORUM! DunbarPlumbingForums.com NORTHERN KENTUCKY PLUMBERS The video shows firsthand how plumbers putty can break down over a short period of time and cause leaks at connecions that need to stay waterproof. Putty can also cause problems with synthetic marble or granite, plastic or composite whereby the oil base of plumbers putty can slowly leach into the sink’s surface and cause issues with staining or material breakdown. Often, plumbers will recommend a “new” type of plumbers putty that is not damaging to the above type of sinks. Too often with both products, the material hardens over a short time and does not perform the function that the product should provide, at least as long as the disposal/strainer or any other type of installation is involved. For some areas across the nation and the globe, plumbers putty is a code requirement. Proper amounts of putty when used is crucial, most times issues arise from using too much putty which can cause leaks over time. We welcome any questions or opinions on this video, we are sure that people will argue the benefits of putty as it is a hotly debated topic on plumbing forums across the internet. Dunbar Plumbing for a number of years used plumbers putty but the reasonable choice these days for reliability is silicone sealant. A product that withstands aging quite well and is resistant to water simply by it’s chemical makeup. Contact Dunbar Plumbing @ 859-359-4833 to schedule …
We’re in the process of installing a dishwasher. We’ve got everything except the drain line hooked up. Their was a prexisting water line & electrical outlet. The pipes were replaced before we bought the house so no pre-existing drain or garbage disposal.
We bought a pipe from home depot that will has a nipple that we can attach the drain to.
The piece is 1 1/2" and we need to outfit it onto 2" black pvc pipes. There is no room between the p-trap and the sink on the right. No room to drop the p-trap closer to the floor.
The sink on the left has an 90 degree elbow pipe that fits onto the long part of a T pipe from the right sink. Below the T pipe is the P-trap. We’re attempting to add the piece we’ve purchased into the long area of the T pipe. We’re having trouble finding couplers that are 1 1/2" to 2".
Should we go about installing this piece another way? Any suggestions? We’re stumped. We really do not want to install a garbage disposal, or call a plumber.
I have a kitchen sink with a garbage disposal. The garbage disposal still works and spins around but it leaves about an inch of water behind. It is clogged with bread crumbs. I’ve already tried Drano-o, pouring boiling hot water, and the baking soda and vinegar method. Any ideas on how to best troubleshoot this? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer!!!
After pouring flour into a garbage disposal the drain became clogged. How do I unclog it?
The drain is clogged. Thus it is filled with water and nothing can be added into the water….I"ve poured a goodly amount of draino into it with no success.
I have read similar questions and answers from the archives. & Used what tips were offered. I’ve tried drano & it does not do anything. It simply sits there. Water too. When attempting to use the garbage disposal it just spits up bubbles on each side. I’ve taken apart both "u" shaped pipes under the sink & there appeared to be no obstruction to cause this slow drainage. Though when loosening the nuts the water drained from them and into the bucket leading me to beleive that, that is not where my problem lies. HELP!
Just installed new garbage disposal and kitchen sink won’t drain without being turned on. This causes dishwasher to overflow kitchen sink. I don’t feel like standing at the sink anymore and turning on the disposal every time we need to wash dishes.
My husband put some tomato soup down the garbage disposal in the kitchen. After running the disposal, the laundry sink (in the garage) filled with tomato soupy water. It drained fine overnight. However, I ran a small load of laundry today and the sink would not drain out the laundry water. The washing machine still has a bit of water in it as well.
I’m assuming the disposal has a clog that is connected to the sink, but I’m not sure of the best way to clear it. It’s an old house (built in the late 60s/early 70s) and the washing machine has a tube that drains into the sink next to it. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
It is the pvc pipe in which the dishwasher and sink drain out to. It seems to be clogged with stuff that did not get ground up enough from the garbage disposal. Any suggestions or do I need to call a plumber? Can I use extra strength Draino? Thanks ahead!
