I heard a leaking dripping sound this week under my kitchen sink. Looked under the shink and noticed a crack in that one section of pipe between the sink strainer and the p trap (curved pipe). As a temporary fix I tried wrapping some plastic around it but in the process the crack widened and that section of pipe broke in two. Can I simply find a wrench and remove the halves from both the sink strainer and p trap and go find a replacement at Home Depot and just use the wrench to screw it back in OR do I have to pull apart more of my kitchen sink? I live in an apartment but my landlord is paranoid and evicts tenants for the smallest little things so I want to do this myself.
Is there any Youtube video for this?

I put plumber’s putty in when I replaced my sink strainer basket (kitchen) a couple of weeks ago. The putty is still coming out. Why didn’t it dry? There is no leak now, but should I stop using the sink until it dries for good or something?

i do have the chemistry sink with an opening that is about 3 inches.like that of a bar sink.i do have a faucet that has a pop up water stop.standard for bathroom.i think its 1 1/4 the problem is how do you make the smaller pop up with all the gaskets.fit the 3 inch opening.the plumber at the local store says they dont make such a flange…..it is like trying to get a pop up water stopper for your bathroom in a sink that is for a kitchen.."just smaller"..i have to beable to make a seal on the sink then put the pop up threw that "flange"…i dont want to give up then have to spend more on a new sink.or put in a bar sink strainer

I’m replacing the sink strainer/basket in my kitchen sink and used rubbing alcohol to assist in removing the old putty. The area is now clean and awaiting the application of plummers putty. Is there any type of residue that I should worry about affecting the adhesive of the plummers putty or should I be good to go? I know that alcohol evaporates, but the area just feels too slick now. Maybe it’s just super clean???

I just replaced the drainage pipe that comes after the sink strainer. I used plumbers putty to cover all the areas water can come out from. What should be done to prevent water from coming out where the sink strainer and drainage pipe meet because water still manages to get out?
